Expert mechanical advice and service for Gladstone locals

Locally owned and operated, GMW Mechanical & Towing has serviced vehicle owners in Gladstone since 1981. Our many years of experience means we can offer expert advice and mechanical knowledge to our clients.

Below are some of our most commonly received queries. If you can’t find your answer here, please call our helpful office staff.

In order to improve the beauty of our local Gladstone streets, we offer a free wreck removal service. Conditions apply.

If you can’t safely walk to a petrol station or otherwise receive help, then give our tow truck drivers a call. We’ll provide you with emergency fuel for a minimal fee or tow your vehicle to a repairer.

After our mechanics have completed the inspection, we will send a detailed report via email or fax. Alternatively you can collect the report from our office when you pick up your vehicle. Our report will include any concerns we may have about the vehicle’s safety and whether it is deemed an un-roadworthy vehicle until repairs of faults are carried out.

Only the person who pays for the inspection will receive the report. It is not made publically available or given to any third party.

As long as your caravan, camper or trailer doesn’t exceed 7 metres in length or 5 tonnes in weight, we are able to tow both your vehicle and anything attached, to the same location. If you wish for the camper or trailer to go to a separate location, just advise our friendly towing team.

In our experience, there are a number of ways you can drive further between filling up at the bowser. Here are some of our expert tips:
• Keep your car regularly serviced to ensure all systems are running efficiently
• Driving smoothly & at a lower speed can reduce fuel use by up to 25%
• Inflate your tyres regularly, & to a slightly higher level than what is stated in the vehicle handbook
• Have a wheel alignment & brake check
• Reduce the amount of weight your car is carrying
